Local news:
Recently, there are many reported cases on suicide. The first case that attracted the nationwide attention is when Alvis Kong committed suicide on December because of failure in relationship. Sadly, this tragedy happened at Melaka on Wednesday. a troubled teenager name Sally , 17, fell from the second floor of her school. Just like Alvis, she posted on Facebook about wanting tot end her life.
During her Chemistry lesson in the laboratory, she walked out from her class and went to a floor above. A witness from her school was shock to see Sally sitting on the corridor ledge facing her empty classroom before she feel backwards. She died due to fatal head injuries. A close relative was wondering why she would want to take her own life as she seemed happy during Chinese New Year. However, it was different story in Sally’s Facebook.
Since Jan 17, she posted several suspicious comments on her wall, she even said that his would be her last Chinese New Year. Her posting became more suspicious last Friday when she wrote that she had planned to end her own life last month. On the other hand, Sunday night, around 11.07pm, Sally spilled her feelings on Facebook of a failed relationship and broken promise. Her remarks drew many attentions and dares from her online friends asking her to go ahead with what she wanted to do. Her last posting on Monday, she reminded her friends to keep their promises of buying her a teddy bear. She also told them not to miss her and take good care of themselves while she is gone. Many of her family is still in shock as they couldn’t accept the face that she took her life away.
In my point of view, commit suicide is now becoming a scary trend among teenagers. By right, teenagers should actually spend time sit down and talk about their problems to someone. The thought of commit suicide should not be the first thing they think of as it wouldn’t solve their problem.
International:
There were Indonesian muslim who had burned down churches and fight with the police as the world’s most popular muslim majority nation struggled with a wave of religious violence. Just two days after a muslim lyncg mob killed three members of a minority Islamic sect, a crowds of angry muslim set two churches on fire and ransacked the third one in the town of Temanggung.
There were many demandings of the death punishment for Antonius Bawengan, a Christian man who was sentenced to the maximum five years in jail for distributing leaflets insulting islam. An area of Java where muslims and Christians would usually mix peacefully had become a havoc now. A catholic school was also vandalized. about 1500 protestors threw stones at the police who also responded by tear gas and warning shots.
I think that one should not judge another by religion. We lived in a country full with other religion, we should respect one and another. Not by fighting and violence as violence would not do any good. Furthermore, this will set an bad example for the younger generations
