7/2 till 11/2

Local news:

Recently, there are many reported cases on suicide. The first case that attracted the nationwide attention is when Alvis Kong committed suicide on December because of failure in relationship. Sadly, this tragedy happened at Melaka on Wednesday. a troubled teenager name Sally , 17, fell from the second floor of her school. Just like Alvis, she posted on Facebook about wanting tot end her life.
During her Chemistry lesson in the laboratory, she walked out from her class and went to a floor above. A witness from her school was shock to see Sally sitting on the corridor ledge facing her empty classroom before she feel backwards. She died due to fatal head injuries. A close relative was wondering why she would want to take her own life as she seemed happy during Chinese New Year. However, it was different story in Sally’s Facebook.
Since Jan 17, she posted several suspicious comments on her wall, she even said that his would be her last Chinese New Year. Her posting became more suspicious last Friday when she wrote that she had planned to end her own life last month. On the other hand, Sunday night, around 11.07pm, Sally spilled her feelings on Facebook of a failed relationship and broken promise. Her remarks drew many attentions and dares from her online friends asking her to go ahead with what she wanted to do. Her last posting on Monday, she reminded her friends to keep their promises of buying her a teddy bear. She also told them not to miss her and take good care of themselves while she is gone. Many of her family is still in shock as they couldn’t accept the face that she took her life away.
In my point of view, commit suicide is now becoming a scary trend among teenagers. By right, teenagers should actually spend time sit down and talk about their problems to someone. The thought of commit suicide should not be the first thing they think of as it wouldn’t solve their problem.

International:

There were Indonesian muslim who had burned down churches and fight with the police as the world’s most popular muslim majority nation struggled with a wave of religious violence. Just two days after a muslim lyncg mob killed three members of a minority Islamic sect, a crowds of angry muslim set two churches on fire and ransacked the third one in the town of Temanggung.
There were many demandings of the death punishment for Antonius Bawengan, a Christian man who was sentenced to the maximum five years in jail for distributing leaflets insulting islam. An area of Java where muslims and Christians would usually mix peacefully had become a havoc now. A catholic school was also vandalized. about 1500 protestors threw stones at the police who also responded by tear gas and warning shots.
I think that one should not judge another by religion. We lived in a country full with other religion, we should respect one and another. Not by fighting and violence as violence would not do any good. Furthermore, this will set an bad example for the younger generations

portrait about myself .

When I was young, my parents are usually the way for me to get the new about the world out there. Obviously, I was too young to read the newspaper and watch the news. My parents would tell me ‘ do not talk with strangers or even follow them if they ask you to follow them and claims that they are your parents friend’. Other than that, my parents would also tell me do not accept food from strangers’ . I was too young to understand the reason why. But, now I understand. The world out there is not safe . strangers can lie to us. Meanwhile, the next source of information I get is from school. Every school has a bulletin board where students can get information and it is usually updated weekly. Besides that, I also get news from my friends, but depends on whether the news is interesting or not.

When I was 10 years old, I lived with my grandparents in their house. One day, it was already midnight, and my uncle dashed into my room and wake us up. He was watching CNN on the living room, and he said that the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City was crashed by two airlines, killing many people. It was live on CNN. Because of that news , It gave me an impact. I was afraid that it would happen to us here in KL. On the other hand, another major news came up.

on the 24th of December 2004, tsunami hits Indonesia. But Penang was affected as well. I had a silly thinking that KL will be hit by Tsunami as well. But of cause, now it’s different. Radio is also one of the technology where I get the news . they usually announce news about local and also international. Other than that, there are also sports. But now in the 21st century, everyone gets to read the news through the internet, like I do. It is so convenient for me , I can read the news anytime and everytime just for free. Sometimes, when I was busy, I would receive the news through instant text message. The news I received daily actually keeps me constantly update about the world out there. No matter local news or news from the other country. It help me to be alert and know that there are many crimes that is happening without us knowing .

LOCAL:

On Tuesday, a video of a man abusing a dog has set everyone on heat which cause massive response from pet lovers on social network website , Facebook. This triggered a nationwide to hunt for him. This man is believed to be a Malaysian, was using brutal force on a poodle to get the dog to stand up. When the dog stand on its four fit, the man became violent and smack it for several time then send it flying. According to the person who uploaded the video said that she had found it in a pendrive which she had found in a shopping mall at Kuala Lumpur. Future more, there were 15 police report that has been lodged against the abuser.

This has given the nation a big impact including me. I am truly upset about what has happen to the poodle. We as human should not abuse pets, but instead, we should love it. Like what people usually say, dogs are mans best friend. I hope that the government would take serious action towards this abuser. This also should be a wake up call to other people out there who has a history of dog abuse.

INTERNATIONAL:

On the early Friday, a ferry full with people was caught on fire in Indonesia which has killed at least 11 passengers. Some of them went panic and jumped into the sea .Meanwhile, at least 200 people were injured. According to the Transport Ministry, Bambang Erwan , he claims that the fire broke out just 40 minutes after the ship depart from Java island heading towards Sumatra. By the late morning, the rescuers had successfully save 427 people. However, the cause of the accidents has not been clarified yet, but some survivors said that it was started by a man who threw his lit cigarette onto the deck.

I feel that the man who threw the lit cigarette is truly irresponsible. He should not simply throw his cigarette everywhere. Furthermore, I thought there were rules that passengers are not suppose to smoke everywhere as they like? What happen to that rule? I think that the authority should put more signs of ‘ no smoking’ around the ship . the government should also strengthen the rules and have heavy punishments to whom that smokes in the ship in the future.
